Hotel Costes, PARIS

When I started working for Jacques Garcia in Paris, the Hotel Costes was already a cult. Jacques designed it some years earlier and Philippe Stark had opened the Royalton in New York City, marking the beginning of the Boutique Hotel era. Since then, for the past 20 years, the concepts they launched then have been copied and remade over and over again.

This small hotel is a must. It’s an old building on rue Saint-Honore, a street known as la creme de la creme of shopping. The entrance is very discrete and the tea room continues to be a place to see and be seen. A block from Colette and a stone-throw away from the Jacques Garcia design studio, the hotel’s restaurant and bar was my dining table for a handful of years.

It’s not about the luxury services but more the feeling of coziness, an authentic Parisian style that makes it one of my favorites.
